The Royal Courts of Justice and the Muir Hunter Museum of Bankruptcy display (pictured) at the Royal Courts of Justice (RCJ), St.Thomas More Building, has been unveiled. There will be a formal launch in due course (details to follow). In the interim do pop up to the mezzanine (between the Bankruptcy Registry and the Family Courts) on the third floor of the St.Thomas More Building to see the display. The display contains information on:
- Bankruptcy and Insolvency - An historical perspective.
- Imprisonment for debt.
- Bankruptcy and capital punishment.
- Debtor sanctuary.
- Treatment of debtors over the ages.
- A bankruptcy from beginning to end.
- The historical forebears of insolvency practitioners - the commissioners in bankruptcy.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Chief Registrar Stephen Baister for hosting the display at the RCJ, and my co-contributors Professor David Graham QC and Professor Emily Kadens for their input.
